Born in Athens, Greece and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Andy received his first skateboard at the age of eleven. Rolling through a vibrant and chaotic New York City in the 1970s, Andy pioneered the city’s skate scene, sculpting the cultural landscape where his spirit continues to be felt to this day. The Andy Kessler Foundation Benefit Art Auction brings together more than 30 multidisciplinary artists and friends of Andy; a celebration not only of artwork but the skate culture Andy nourished and loved so dearly. Andy’s passion and dedication to the emerging urban skate scene and community of his generation is reflected in the diverse body of work on view. The exhibition is comprised of sculpture, collage, painting and works on paper, a generous body of work donated with the same love and spirit shared by Andy.
